Find My Phone for Android

12 August 2010 5 Comments

Find My Phone is an Android phone app that helps you find your lost, stolen, or misplaced Android phone. – When you lose your phone, just send it a text msg (sms) and the phone will reply with its current location. – Make your phone ring *loudly* if you lose it somewhere close by, like inside your home. Works on Android phones like the Verizon Droid, T-Mobile G1, and other smart phones. sites.google.com

Since you enabled GPS, is the app always grabbing a GPS update (and thus draining the battery) or does it only pull the GPS coordinates if it gets the text message to reveal it’s location?

I’ve seen a WinMo app like this that also concealed the text message – so the user would not know that you asked for the phone to send it’s location.

set your pattern lock on your phone, that way if it gets lost or stolen, even if they try to turn it off they can’t.

that is a really great app. its amazing the technology these days. the only problem i could see us still facing is if someone steals it and turns it off, or wipes it clean…i guess youd have to lock your home screen tho. buuut, i may give this app a try
